Dental X-rays

Why do dentist's take x-rays?

X-rays show areas between the teeth that cannot be seen visually in the mouth. They also show the roots of teeth which helps when an extraction is required.
Most dentists take what is called "bite wing" x-rays every 18 months - 2 years to detect decay between the teeth.

"Periapical x-rays" are taken of a particular tooth or area in the mouth. These x-rays are taken to help diagnose specific problem teeth.

Health Funds

Are you preferred with a health fund?

We accept all health funds and claim directly to your health fund via Hicaps on the day of treatment.

We are a preferred provider with HCF as they offer the More for Teeth program which entitles patients twice per calendar year to examinations, cleaning, fluoride & x-rays.

We have no affiliation to the major private health funds HBF, Bupa and MBP as these schemes are no longer available to new dental practices like myself, however we can assure you that an advantage of not being preferred is that we have the flexibility with our fees and out of pocket costs for patients. You will find that our fees are very competitive against other practices and we do offer the same preventative incentives that are offered by your medical insurance at preferred sites.
